BEI Duncan Encoders offer an excellent choice of modular, kit, enclosed, shafted and through-hole encoder designs ideally suited for a wide variety of applications. The Duncan design provides a 3-channel incremental digital output including an index channel and two data channels in quadrature.

Our phased-array ASIC technology allows for the widest air gap in the industry, with an approximate 0.020" air gap vs. other masked technology processes requiring air gaps of 0.003-0.005". The ability to tolerate up to 0.005 inches of radial misalignment from a mating shaft makes Duncan encoders one of the industries only encoders capable of operating in applications with reduced attention to axial play, radial play and alignment. Standard operational frequency is 100 kHz over the entire operating temperature range of zero to 85 degrees Celsius. Resolution ranges are available fro 100 up to 2540 CPR (Cycles Per Revolution). Specific design requirements can be meet with operating frequencies to 350 kHz, extended operating temperatures of -40 to +115 degrees Celsius, buffered outputs, 8-32 VDC inputs and much more.
