BEI Duncan Electronics Develops 9850 Series
Extreme Environment Position Sensor with IP66 and IP67 Rating

June 3, 2003 - Duncan Electronics, a division of BEI Technologies, Inc., has developed a fully sealed, harsh environment rotary position sensor. This sensor can be used in both position feedback and operator input applications. The device is rated to meet the requirements of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 529 for Enclosure Protection IP66 AND IP67.

This new generation sensor assembly offers a very slim design. It can withstand over 1 million full rotation cycles and 5 million dither cycles. The device is fully sealed and is impervious to contamination and moisture. The sensor can withstand temperatures as high as 125°C with continuous operation. The all plastic (Valox ™) construction is ideally suited for use in the harshest industrial and commercial corrosive environments.

BEI Duncan has satisfied the need for low profile, high performance sensor packages to meet the demanding requirements in new position feedback applications. The 9850 Series offers numerous standard and custom options including dual-output, sealed integral interface to Packard Electric METRI-Pack connectors, and a low profile.

Twelve standard models offer a choice of 180 or 120 mechanical rotation with round or slotted mounting holes for optimal installation alignment. The performance features coupled with the flexibility of design allow it to be easily integrated into a wide variety of existing and new applications. Pricing starts at under $17.00 each in 1,000 piece quantities.
