| April
25, 2003 - Duncan Electronics, a division of BEI Technologies,
Inc., has developed a fully sealed, harsh environment
panel potentiometer. This shaft driven sensor can be
used in both position feedback and operator input (panel)
applications. The device is rated to meet the requirements
of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 529
for Enclosure Protection IP66 AND IP67.
This
new generation sensor assembly offers very slim design
with low electrical noise performance using a new proprietary
“LN” conductive plastic “ink”
formulation. The unit can withstand over 1 million full
rotation cycles. Additionally, the device is fully sealed
and is impervious to contamination and moisture. The
sensor can withstand storage temperatures as high as
150ºC and offers continuous operation to 125ºC.
The device is ideally suited for use in the harshest
industrial, commercial and off highway environments.
BEI
Duncan has identified an increasing need for small,
high performance sensor packages to meet the demanding
requirements in new position feedback and panel control
applications. With housing dimensions measuring only
15.9mm wide (0.63”) x 17.7mm (0.7”) high
and featuring a slim depth of only 11.6mm (.46”),
the 5320 is one of the smallest, fully sealed panel
pots in the industry. Additionally, the 5320 Series
offers numerous standard and custom options including
detent functions, various electrical/mechanical angles,
continuous mechanic rotation, shaft configurations,
shaft and bushing diameters/lengths, resistance values,
etc.
The
performance features coupled with the flexibility of
the 5320 series design allows it to be easily integrated
or re-packaged into a wide variety of existing and new
applications. Pricing starts at under $7.00 each in
1,000 piece quantities.
